The new generation of supercomputers in DestinE
About
High-performance computing has always been essential for weather prediction and climate projection, enabling models to simulate future conditions by performing billions of calculations globally. With Destination Earth’s digital twins running at very high resolution and generating unprecedented data, this novel, complex system requires a new level of computing power.
This is made possible thanks to the strategic support of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, by granting the DestinE initiative a strategic allocation to several of the world’s largest supercomputers: LUMI, hosted by CSC (Finland), Marenostrum5, hosted by BSC (Spain), Leonardo, hosted by Cineca (Italy) and MeluXina, hosted by LuxProvide (Luxembourg).
About the video
This video explains how the new generation of supercomputers features novel architectures and cutting-edge accelerator technologies, enabling groundbreaking speeds in calculations, data access, and storage solutions.
The supercomputers involved in DestinE showcase how innovative technologies are crucial in tackling global challenges, helping us better understand and adapt to climate change and extreme events for a more resilient future.
